Laboratory Preliminary Schedule

There are three experiments (I-III) in this laboratory course. Just like in a research laboratory, each experiment consists of many parts and requires multiple weeks to be completed.  During many lab periods, more than one experiment will be run simultaneously.  Therefore, preparation and understanding of the material is essential to keep everything straight.  The subtitle for each experimental protocol represents the actual lab week in which that particular protocol will be performed.

Remember that proper preparation is important to make your laboratory course go smoothly. Familiarize yourself with each experiment by reading the appropriate material in the course's textbook, along with the overview, and experimental protocols in this syllabus, prior to each laboratory period.

Experiment I: recombinant plasmid and protein expression

Experiment II: there is more to be learned than just molecular biology with E. coli: genetic manipulation of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

Experiment III: bioinformatics
