Bio-inspired Solar Fuels
As the need to replace fossil fuels with environementally clean, renewable energy sources becomes more crucial, solar energy emerges as a solution. Unfortunately, practical, cost-effective technologies to convert sunlight into useful fuels do not currently exist, and new basic science is required.
Recognizing the need for new science, in 2009 the US Department of Energy established the ASU Center for Bio-Inspired Solar Fuel (BISfuel) Production, a branch of the CB&P.
